DORCHESTER Town boss Callum Brooks insists the Magpies’ BetVictor Southern Premier South clash with Salisbury is “set up” for success tomorrow (3pm).

Brooks’ men travel to the Raymond McEnhill Stadium off the back of a 3-0 loss to Truro City on Tuesday and face a big-spending side that secured an impressive 4-1 victory over Dorchester in April.

Steve Claridge’s Whites have since recruited strongly in the summer, hiring the likes of Wimborne hitman Toby Holmes as the Wiltshire club look to rise into the National League South.

Speaking to Echosport, Brooks said a trip to scout Salisbury had given him cause for optimism ahead of the clash.

He said: “It’s another difficult game and, as I’ve always said, I don’t see too many games at this level you look at and go ‘it’ll be anything but difficult’.

“With the kind of budget Salisbury are always rumoured to have, the players and the leagues they’ve been in over the years, it’s a difficult game.

“I’ve been to watch Salisbury and had them watched and I believe it’s a game which is set up for us to do well.

“If we can make sure we’re at the right level as a group then, without a shadow of a doubt, we will go and cause Salisbury problems.”

Brooks emphasised his respect for Salisbury, adding: “Going to a club like Salisbury, it’s a good yardstick of where you are. I firmly believe we can go to Salisbury and get a result.

“That’s why we’re in (football), to be part of big games and we’ve got a group which will be competitive in those games.”

Charlie Davis (hamstring), who was subbed after 30 minutes at Truro as a precaution, is available for the Magpies.
