BRIDPORT RESERVES 0 BALTI SPORTS 2

BALTI Sports earned their first win of the Dorset Premier League campaign with a 2-0 victory over bogey team Bridport Reserves under the St Mary’s Field lights.

Sports traditionally struggle against the Bees’ second string but have now put the ‘bogey team’ tag firmly to bed after collecting their second away win over Shaun Annetts’ men in three seasons.

Balti dominated the first half and saw numerous chances go begging – most notably in a goalmouth scramble towards the end of the first half.

Following the interval, Ricky Lane converted a 55th-minute penalty when Ethan Devaney was brought down in the area.

Devaney, who was enjoying an excellent match, then put the game to bed with five minutes left, lethally finishing a one-on-one chance.

Speaking to Echosport, Sports’ boss Marco Nott said: “It was probably the perfect team performance, they were outstanding – every single one of them.

“It’s hard to highlight any one player, everyone stuck at their task.”

Balti: A Nott, Taylor, S Walker, Anderson, R Walker, McClements, Devaney, Nichols, S Zima (Gay 80), Lane (Stavrianos 70), Baker (Andrews 60). Sub not used: Innes

Nott’s men next visit Sturminster Newton United on Saturday (3pm).

“It’s a hard place to go up there,” Nott admitted. “It’s always a close game and hopefully we can continue a bit of momentum. The lads set the bar for their performances (on Tuesday).”

Striker Danny Andrews misses out but midfielder Karl Dean could return.
