I read the letter from Colin Sparkes (Bridport News, August 1) and was prompted to respond.
Yes, the dog bins are emptied at a cost to the ratepayer and yes, owning a dog is a lifestyle choice. So is cycling – the cycle paths were installed, at a considerable cost to the ratepayer, yet how much are they used?
I own a dog, the waste is bagged and binned. If not for the bins, there would be loads of bags hanging in trees, or the waste not collected at all and left for all to tread in. Which, Mr Sparkes would you want to see?
