The weekend's here once again, and once again there's a whole host of events and activities taking place across Bridport, Beaminster and Lyme Regis.

FRIDAY, AUGUST 9

  • Bridport Story Café presents The Tangle of the Commons with storyteller and environmentalist Lisa Schneidau. She will be telling tales laced with a history of the land to provoke thought and inspiration at Watercleaves next to Washingpool Farm. It will take place outside (weather permitting) from 7.30pm.   • Hear all of T.Rex’s hits live in Lyme Regis when tribute band T.Rextasy performs at the Marine Theatre from 8pm. Doors open at 7pm and tickets are available in advance for £23.50 from marinetheatre.com, or on the door for £27.00.

SATURDAY, AUGUST 10

  • Affordable West Country Art exhibition opens today at Burton Bradstock Village Hall as part of Burton Bradstock Festival of Music and Art and will continue until Sunday, August 18. For more information, visit burtonbradstockfestival.com.
  • Bridport Vegan Market returns to the town hall from 10am to 2.30pm. Find food, beauty, gifts and more.
  • Toy Story 4 (U) will be shown at the Electric Palace at 11am. For more information and tickets, visit electricpalace.org.uk
  • Alan Rogers, the ‘keyhole surgeon of the craft world’, will do a live demonstration with a magnified camera to show how model ships can be put into bottles. ‘Impossible Bottles’ will take place at Bridport LSi at 1pm and entry is free, although there is a suggested donation of £5. All proceeds go to Dorothy House Hospice and Bridport LSi.
  • Lyme Regis carnival starts from Holmbush car park from 8pm, with the procession making its way down Broad Street to Cobb Square.
  • Matt Carter Seven will be performing at the Pine Hall by the Baptist Church in Lyme Regis from 8pm. Doors open at 7.30pm and tickets are available from jazzjurassica.co.uk
  • Listen to the hits of the Beach Boys when the Beach Boyz Tribute Band comes to Marine Theatre at 8pm. Tickets cost £18 in advance from marinetheatre.com or on the door for £20.

SUNDAY, AUGUST 11

  • The Bridport Jurassic Coast Run will start at the promenade at 10.30am. For more information, visit bridport-runners.co.uk.
  • Take part in the Five Pubs’ Challenge from 11am to 3pm. Make your way to five different pubs - the Loders Arms, The Crown in Uploders, The Spyway in Askerswell, The Marquis of Lorne in Nettlecombe and The Three Horseshoes in Powerstock - in any way you chose, either cycling, walking, horse riding or any other way you can think of. Start and end at the same pub and collect a stamp at each one you visit along the six to seven-mile route. Those who are successful will be given a certificate at the end.
