A POPULAR indie rock band have been revealed as the surprise special guests of this year's Camp Bestival.

Bombay Bicycle Club have joined line-up for the much-anticipated festival at Lulworth Castle which takes place at the weekend (25-28).

Bombay Bicycle Club signalled their re-emergence from a lengthy hiatus earlier in spring with a video teaser documenting a snapshot of the band in the studio, and a note to fans explaining an imminent return. This was followed by a series of intimate live announcements.

Now, festival organisers say they "couldn’t be happier" that Camp Bestival will be one of the very first performances of their comeback.

The band will take to the Castle Stage on Sunday evening.

Other headline acts at the superhero-themed family festival include Jess Glynne, Lewis Capaldi and The Human League.

Bombay Bicycle Club are renowned for their exuberant and passionate live shows, playing material from their four records of experimental and inventive guitar music, including 2014’s chart-topping So Long, See You Tomorrow.

Camp Bestival co-founder Rob da Bank said: "We all love a surprise and so I’m really excited to unveil a last minute addition to our line-up for Camp Bestival in the exquisite shape of Bombay Bicycle Club who will be playing a special show on our Castle Stage as part of our Sunday night grand finale.

"Goes without saying, I’ve been a huge fan and supporter of the band since my days on Radio 1 championing the band and their appearance at Bestival in 2013.

"They’ve been away for four years, so we’re hugely honoured to have them join the party.”

Youngsters at Camp Bestival can enjoy the brand-new Wild Tribe area designed to encourage screen-free time.

Powered by solar and alternative technology, the unique area will be complete with bushcraft and wild adventures, mud slides, drumming circles, as well as some organic and vegan food to fuel the kids.

Also taking place during the festival will be silent discos, a bouncy castle, Sonic Youth Club, the Parenting Programme and the Teen Debating Society.
