I am writing to publicly shame the person who reported me to the council about an overhanging bush at the side of my garden.

After nursing my husband for two years with cancer he died in March 2019 and I am still a grieving widow trying to cope as best I can, including the garden.

I was sick to my stomach when I received the notification.

The question I would ask is could you not have knocked my door and voiced your concerns, after all I may have been too ill to do it.

There is however a happy ending, my two neighbours on hearing my plight tackled the job together while I was out. One of the gentleman has recently had a heart attack which makes it all the more meaningful.

To them and all the lovely people that have helped me since my husband’s death I would like to say a big thank you. And, to others, please think before contemplating doing something like this, as it causes great stress in what is a sad and stressful time for anyone.
