Help keep the town’s orchard tidy and looking beautiful this weekend.

A work party is taking place at Bridport Community Orchard, behind St Mary’s Church on South Street, on Sunday, July 14 from 10am.

A spokesperson for Bridport Community Orchard Committee said: “Now that we are in the height of the summer season, we need to turn our attention to the management of the fruit trees and cutting of the grass.

“The ‘June drop’ is natures way of allowing apples to develop into full-size fruits, but we still need to give a helping hand, so some fruit thinning will be one of our main jobs.”

Other jobs include summer fruit tree pruning, scything of grass from several areas, wildflower seed collection, pond management, pernicious weed removal and some general weeding.

Everyone is welcome and refreshments will be provided.
