The owner of a picture house has now branched out to run a village pub.
Alasdair Warren of the Electric Palace in Bridport has also bought the Pymore Inn, a free house just outside Bridport.
He has teamed up with local publican Steve Killingbeck to run the pub and give it a new lease of life.
Mr Warren, who grew up in Melplash, said: “When I was growing up, the Pymore Inn was always one of the best pubs in the area, well-known for its lovely garden and great food.
“I wanted to bring all that back and more, creating something really special and very different from any other pub in the area.”
The pub will be reopening on Thursday, July 4 at 5pm following an extensive face-lift.
Mr Warren says the pub will offer a largely British menu with “an inventive twist”, using local, seasonal produce and carry a broad selection of real ales and ciders with regular changing guest ales.
He also said that to complement the food menu, there will be a bespoke selection of wines from Dorset vineyards and from around the world supplied by Morrish and Banham, local independent wine merchant, and a choice of cocktails and mocktails, exclusively designed by Lloyd Brown for Dark Bear Bar.
The Pymore Inn is situated on the outskirts of Bridport on Pymore Road and welcomes dogs.
