A person died after being struck by a train at Pokesdown railway station in Bournemouth yesterday.
Officers from British Transport Police (BTP) were called out at 6.30am to reports of a casualty on the tracks.
A spokesperson from BTP said: "Paramedics also attended but sadly a person was pronounced dead at the scene.
"Officers are currently working to identify the person and inform their family.
"The incident is not being treated as suspicious and a file will be prepared for the coroner."
South Western Railway said it had received reports that a person has been struck by a train between Bournemouth and Brockenhurst.
Their response teams are working with the emergency services to assist with the incident.
In order to allow emergency services access to the railway, all power to the track had to be switched off in the affected area and these lines were blocked.
National Rail has said that services may be cancelled, delayed or revised. The disruption was expected to last until 12pm, but South Western confirmed that all lines have now been reopened and trains are now running through the affected area.
If you or someone close to you has been affected by this incident, you can contact the Samaritans on 116 123 free at any time, on any phone.
South Western Railway said: "Help and advice is only a phone call away. South Western Railway work closely with the Samaritans and support the brilliant work that they do."
