A inquest has been opened and adjourned into the death of a man found beneath cliffs at West Bay.

The body of Ryan Alec Sibley, aged 25, was discovered at East Cliff Beach last Saturday, June 15.

Mr Sibley, of Drimpton, near Beaminster, was a gardener and landscaper by profession.

During Friday's short hearing, held at Dorset Coroner's Court, Bournemouth, coroner's officer Ken McEwan said: "Ryan Sibley had been suffering from depression and sadly was found on the shingle beach at the foot of the cliffs by two members of the public who were out walking."

The air ambulance attended the scene and the death was confirmed by medics. A subsequent police investigation confirmed no suspicious circumstances or third party involvement.

A post-mortem confirmed the cause of death as multiple injures due to a fall from cliffs.

Assistant Dorset Coroner Brendan Allen adjourned the hearing until a full inquest, scheduled for November 18, this year.
