Traffic is said to have returned to normal following a crash reported near Uplyme.
According to the Travel Dorset website, two vehicles were involved in the incident on Lyme Road near the petrol station.
Reports said the road, which is just over the county border in Devon, was partially blocked both ways.
Vehicles were queued from Cooks Mead to Gore Lane during the afternoon and had cleared by around 5.30pm.
