Residents and visitors are being encouraged to do their bit to make this year’s carnival a success.
Members of Bridport Carnival Committee are calling on people and groups to take part in the procession on August 17, volunteer as a member or marshal or wear something silly while watching to add to the atmosphere.
A spokesperson said: “Are you guilty of attending the Bridport Carnival and saying afterwards, ‘well I’m not impressed’? What have you done about it?
“Dorchester and Weymouth carnivals have already folded due to lack of local support. A carnival is run by local, busy people volunteering, who want other local people to have fun - it is a lot of hard work.”
The committee is urging residents to help make this year’s carnival a success and fun for all.
The spokesperson added: “You can watch this year, dressed in something silly, you can participate in the carnival, you can offer your services as a marshal or you can volunteer to become a committee member.”
If you would like to help or take part in this year’s carnival, email joycedunford@yahoo.co.uk
The carnival is free to enter by picking up a form from Bridport Tourist Information Centre.
