New and improved netball posts and a freshly painted court have been installed at a west Dorset school to ensure school children continue playing netball.

Pupils at Symondsbury Primary School now have better equipment, which is also used by a group of fundraisers for the school who have their own netball team.

The money was raised through an annual charity golf day at Bridport and West Dorset Golf Club by Mike Vincent and Terry Cleal, which is well supported by local businesses sponsoring a hole.

Colmers Comets netball team, a small group who play netball for fun but primarily raise funds for sport related items for Symondsbury Primary School, received the donation, which has enabled them to replace the broken netball posts and repaint the lines on the netball court.

A spokesperson for Colmers Comets said: “A huge thank you from Colmers Comets netball team for your charity’s very generous donation towards replacing our netball posts and brackets to secure the posts and netball court line painting.

“We have enjoyed using them these past few weeks and are sure the children of Symondsbury Primary School will too. Thank you again.”

Colmers Comets netball team has been running since June 1998 and was started by a group all connected to Symondsbury Primary School as a bit of fun and a way of getting fit.

The team raises funds to support the school’s sporting endeavours.
