The A35 was closed for approximately seven hours following a crash.

The road was closed in both directions after a crash between Dorchester and Winterbourne Abbas

One car was involved in the crash, which occurred at about 7.50am yesterday.

An ambulance was called but it is believed that the driver did not suffer serious injuries.

A telegraph pole was struck and fell into the road.

There was heavy traffic between the B3159  at Winterbourne Abbas and the  A37 at Monkeys Jump Roundabout.

Engineers arrived to assess the damage to the pole, which was blocking the road.

The road was closed for approximately seven hours as police awaited assistance from the local authority to repair or remove the pole.

The road was reopened at about 3pm, after the telegraph pole was removed from the road to allow traffic through.
