A campaign to create an air ambulance landing site has had a boost.
Residents of Uplyme are working to have a night landing site in the village’s King George’s Field so that the Devon Air Ambulance can land safely at night.
The project has recently been awarded £1,500 from the Communities Together Fund by East District Council and Devon County Council.
The group leading the campaign have held numerous fundraising events, including a themed dinner evening, with other local groups also raising money for the cause.
It is expected to cost more than £3,000 to install the night landing site.
More than 75,000 has been given to a variety of community projects.
Cllr Ian Thomas, East Devon’s portfolio holder for the finance, said: “Our partnership with the county council has ensured that a variety of worthwhile community projects have been supported and these projects will benefit our residents for many years to come.”
