The Sunday roast - it's quintessentially British and everyone's favourite family tradition, but sometimes the chief cook of the house needs a break.

A while ago we asked readers where, in their opinion, was the best place in Dorset for a Sunday roast.

So if you're thinking of a post-Christmas lunch away from your kitchen have a look at the list of the most mentioned restaurants and pubs from our readers' contributions.

This country pub also appeared to be a huge hit amongst our contributors. (We suspect it may have something to do with their 7-day a week carvery...)
Tomo Lee said: "I used to eat and drink here in my college days, and now with a family. We still all enjoy a roast and (soft) drinks with a great atmosphere, which works with every season. Small park parking fee and with a foot path near for that after lunch stroll in Hardy country, with so much choice of carvery and others options. Plenty of seating. My vote for best Sunday roast in Dorset."
