A west Dorset nursery is celebrating after being rated ‘outstanding’ by Ofsted.

Wren’s Nursery at Hooke Court, near Beaminster, were inspected on May 1 and maintained their outstanding result in effectiveness of leadership and management, quality of teaching, learning and assessment, personal development, behaviour and welfare, and outcomes for children.

The inspector found “the manager and staff work exceptionally well together as a strong team” and “staff form extremely strong partnerships with parents and actively seek their views”.

The children’s behaviour was found to be “excellent” and they “thoroughly enjoy their play and achieve excellent progress through their eager exploration and investigation of highly motivating, innovative activities and resources”.

The report stated that children are “extremely well prepared for their move to school” and “quickly gain high levels of independence”.

In order to improve, the inspector said the nursery should consider ways to enable children to benefit even more from their learning opportunities, particularly within group activities.

Nursery manager Amy Evans said: “The Wren’s Nursery team are extremely proud of our setting and work incredibly hard to give every child the best start possible to their educational life.

“We are very lucky to have access to all of the wonderful grounds and resources available at Hooke Court and make sure we maximise the use of these to make every day different and exciting.

“To have all this recognised within our inspection report and within the feedback from our families that use our service is a great accolade.”

The nursery was also rated ‘outstanding’ after its last inspection in October 2014.

Wren’s Nursery is currently having a new building built which is hoped to be opened in September.
