A driver was told to move his car to let a fire engine past.
A fire engine from Bridport Fire Station was returning from a callout on Friday, when it was unable to pass a vehicle parked on the road.
The fire engine had attended reports of a fire in Bradpole at around 7.30pm.
A spokesman for Dorset and Wiltshire Fire and Rescue Service said: "On arrival crews made contact with the first informant and determined this was a false alarm with good intent. Unfortunately, whilst returning to station we came up against this. Luckily we were not in any rush and we managed to locate the driver who then moved the car to a more suitable location.”
