A popular charity event is gearing up for its 2019 outing.

Weldmar Hospicecare, a charity that helps people in need of end of life care, is welcoming back its Big Dorset Cuppa for 2019.

This allows people and organisations to host tea and cake events to raise money for the charity.

The year’s event will feature a new fundraising pack, which will contain cake games, recipe cards, top tips for the event as well as bunting, stickers and balloons.

Emily Fisher, community engagement fundraiser at Weldmar said: “This year we are hoping that the Big Dorset Cuppa is bigger than ever.

“With our new fundraising packs available it is easy for everyone within our community to get involved."

Weldmar Hospicecare is also hosting its own Big Dorset Cuppa at a launch party on May 17 at their inpatient unit in Dorchester.

A member of staff from Dorset Tea will be in attendance to give a talk about how their tea is produced.

Those who attend will also be able to pick up their fundraising pack on the day.

Fiona Hansford, the Business Development Fundraiser at Weldmar, said: “This is a great way for employees to engage with their local hospice, and this year we have other ways for businesses to be involved too.”

The official week of the Big Dorset Cuppa is June 24 to June 28, however this year the pack can be sent to participants for whenever it suits them.

Weldmar Hospicecare offers end of life care for both patients and their families.

On their website, they state that their missions is to ensure all patients needing palliative care in Dorset have access to excellent services delivered when and where needed whether by Weldmar Hospicecare, or by others supported by Weldmar, and to offer support to families and others affected by the patient’s illness.

The charity raises 75 per cent of its funds through support from the local community, while the remaining 25 per cent comes from the NHS.
