WEST Dorset is a foodie's paradise.
Over the summer months, we're spoilt for choice with food fairs and events celebrating the best produce the area has to offer.
The season kicked off with a fantastic fair at Abbotsbury - but if you missed that, there are still plenty more to choose from here I now West Dorset and the surrounding area.
Springtide Food Festival
May 18–19
10am–4pm
Held in the beautiful surroundings of Hive Beach, Burton Bradstock, this food festival brings together some of the best food, drink, art and entertainment along the spectacular setting of the Jurassic Coast. From artisan bread, fresh fish and locally reared meat to locally brewed beers, ciders and sparkling wines, it is a paradise for food lovers, with an array of the finest local produce available to try and buy.
This will be the 10h year of the festival.
River Cottage Food Fair
May 25-26
10am–6pm
Expect to see a fine array of food to go, cookery and cocktail masterclasses, kids get cooking sessions and a lively food market. This year marks 20 years of River Cottage, making it a particularly special occasion.
Bridport Food Festival
June 9-15
A celebration of the best Bridport has to offer. Run by the Bridport Local Food Group, a committee of dedicated volunteers, the festival proudly supports producers and promotes local food. Look out for some tasty treats on offer at the hugely popular festival
Food Rocks Festival
September 7–8
The festival was founded by Mark Hix with the aim of promoting the produce of his hometown of Lyme Regis and the surrounding areas, by presenting some of the best food, producers and suppliers that Dorset has to offer.
It brings together top chefs, exhibitors, locals and visitors alike. The main stage will showcase a diverse mix of interactive cookery demonstrations, talks and tastings across the weekend.
