THERE is so much going on across west Dorset this weekend and we've compiled a handy list, making it easier for you to plan your weekend.

From a festival in a day, jazz, film and a cider festival to a jumble sale, afternoon tea and beach cleans, there is something for everyone.

FRIDAY, APRIL 26

  • From Page to Screen continues at Bridport Arts Centre with a showing of Live Flesh (18) at 11am, Rebecca (PG) at 2pm, Can You Ever Forgive Me (15) at 5.30pm and Tell It To The Bees at 8pm. For more information about the films, visit www.bridport-arts.com
  • Art exhibition, ‘6 Bridport Artists’ will still be available to view at Eype Centre of the Arts until Sunday. The exhibition is open from 10.30am to 4.30pm.
  • The Ropemakers pub starts their weekend of music with Pronghorn at 9.15pm. The band was set up in 1992, going against the grain of grunge. It has now evolved with a mash of punk, country and rockability which brought together the band’s very own genre ‘cowpunk’.
  • Posting Letters to the Moon is a reading of wartime letters between Oscar-nominated actress Celia Johnson, of Brief Encounter, and her husband Peter Flemming. They are read by their daughter Lucy Flemming with Simon Williams, both actors in The Archers. This takes place at the Marine Theatre in Lyme Regis from 8pm. SATURDAY, APRIL 27

  • As part of the From Page to Screen, Bridport Arts Centre will be showing Il Postino (U) at 11am, Dumbo at 2pm, Black Panther (PG) at 5pm, and If Beale Street Could Talk at 7.30pm. For more information, visit www.bridport-arts.com
  • Askerswell Jumble Sale will be taking place at Bridport United Church Hall from 10am. There will be stalls of bric-a-brac, clothing and produce as well as refreshments. Entry costs 20p and children are free.
  • The Friends of Beaminster Festival concert featuring Winston Lees on trumpet and Martin Schellenberg on organ will be held at St Mary’s Church, Beaminster, from 3pm. Tickets cost £12 and are available on the door or from Bridport Music and the Church Office in Hogshill Street.
  • The organisers of Jurassic Fields are bringing a Festival In A Day to Salway Ash from 3pm to 12midnight. There will be live music from The Leggomen, Arcade Hearts, Last One Home, Sinful Maggie, Jordan Lindsay, Tatto’d Beat Messiah and Eve Appleton. Tickets are available from www.festivalinaday.com
  • The Powerstock Cider Festival is being revived as the Meplash Cider Festival from 6pm today at Melplash Village Hall. There will be music from The Skimmity Hitchers and a range of ciders.   • The Rotary Club of Bridport presents the Dorset Police Male Voice Choir at Bridport United Church from 7pm. Tickets cost £10.50 and are available from Bridport Tourist Information Centre.
  • Bridport Folk Dance Club are celebrating 100 years of dancing in the town with a dance display, raffle and bring and share supper from 7.30pm at St Mary’s Church House. Music will be supplied by Weston Country Dance Band with caller Dick Williams. Tickets cost £8.
  • Sladers Yard presents Three Cane Whale, a highly-acclaimed multi-instrumental acoustic trio, featuring members of Spiro, Get the Blessing and Scottish Dance Theatre, whose spare, intricate compositions combine ancient folk with modern classical ideas.   • Palooka 5 will be performing live at The Ropemakers pub from 9.15pm. Sixties surf and garage music is played on original vintage instruments. Expect originals alongside the odd fresh interpretation of The Sonics, The Ventures and The Cramps.
  • Enjoy a blend of country, blues and acid house from Alabama 3 Acoustic, the band famous for the recording the theme to The Sopranos. Tickets cost £15 in advance from www.marinetheatre.com or £17.50 on the door at the Marine Theatre in Lyme Regis. The bar opens at 7pm with music starting at 8pm.

SUNDAY, APRIL 28

  • Members of Brit Valley Rotary Club are holding a charity afternoon tea at The Salt House in West Bay from 2pm to 5pm.

  • Jazz in the Bar at the Marine Theatre in Lyme Regis will focus on celebrating Miles Davis, the American trumpeter who became one of the most influential figures in music. Tickets cost £8 in advance from www.marinetheatre.com or £12 on the door. It starts at 8pm.
