LIFEBOATS were launched when a boat capsized at the entrance to a river.

Lyme Regis Lifeboat assisted when Sidmouth Lifeboat was called to deal with the incident at the mouth of the River Axe.

Two people who had been aboard the vessel were reported to be in the water.

Sidmouth Lifeboat was on scene within 10 minutes and found one person already safely shore. The second person was found 300m offshore and was brought safely aboard the lifeboat.

Both people had been wearing lifejackets.

Lyme Regis Lifeboat also tasked, then arrived and dealt with the capsized vessel itself.

The incident happened at around 10.45am on Friday.

A spokesman said: "Thank you to all involved and a special mention to Ducky's Beach Cafe for providing a coffee to help warm up one cold casualty."
