Police are investigating after an attempted break-in at a hospice.
It happened in the early hours of Saturday, April 13 at Weldmar’s Joseph Weld Hospice in Herringston Road, Dorchester.
Police were called at 3.53am by nurses at the hospice, who had seen trespassers in the grounds on CCTV.
A police spokesman said: “Damage was caused to two doors and a storage area. Nothing has been reported stolen. An investigation is underway.”
Caroline Hamblett, Chief Executive of Weldmar Hospicecare, said she was ‘saddened’ by the incident.
She said: “Our nurses alerted Dorset Police early on Saturday morning, after our CCTV picked up trespassers within the grounds of our hospice. Some damage was caused to the exterior of one of our storage areas but fortunately, nothing was stolen. We are continuing to work with Dorset Police whilst they investigate the incident further. We are saddened about the incident and the damage that was caused, however, our CCTV enabled us to act quickly so no further damage could be caused.”
