Dorset is preparing for a mini-heatwave this bank holiday weekend.

With the long weekend approaching, the sun has decided to shine on Dorset at just the right time. Saturday and Sunday are expected to be particularly sunny and hot.

According to the Met Office, Bridport will see highs of 21C and it will be slightly cooler at the coast in Lyme Regis, with temperatures reaching 18C.

This should give tourists and local residents alike the perfect opportunity to spend the Easter weekend down at the beach, enjoying the delights of the towns and enjoying the sun.

And there will be plenty of visitors, with Lyme Regis having been named one of the UKs top destinations for staycations this Easter.

The warm weather has been forecast for the south of England as well as western Scotland and the north west of England.

Easter-themed events will take place across the weekend, such as craft fairs in Abbotsbury, egg trails at Mappertone House and Colmers Hill and, as always, market day.
