SPRING is here and your help is needed to keep a community orchard looking beautiful.

There will be a work party in Bridport Community Orchard this weekend.

Volunteers are needed to help spruce up the orchard by helping with a varied range of jobs to keep it looking beautiful and welcoming.

Jobs this month will include cutting of grass, collecting spent hops from Palmers brewery to use as a mulch for the fruit trees, some weeding of various flower beds and the bog garden, some hedge pruning and compost management.

It will be the last chance for a bonfire to burn remaining debris and some practical tasks, such as the installation of water butts.

The work party will take place at the orchard, which can be found off South Street, behind St Mary’s Church, at 10am on Sunday.

All are welcome to join and refreshments will be provided.

Another work party will take place at the orchard at Jubilee Green, at the top of Park Road, at 10am on Sunday, April 28, where grass cutting, weeding and general springtime maintenance will be carried out. Again, all are welcome to attend and lend a hand.
