Coastguards were called to reports that a dog had fallen through some rocks at West Bay.
West Bay Coastguard Rescue team was alerted to the incident at 5.50pm on Friday (5).
The Jack Russell had gone missing whilst walking with its owner, who feared it had fallen through one of the large gaps between the rock armour.
As coastguards gathered their equipment and made their way to the scene, they received calls to say the owner had found the dog between the rocks and had managed to free it.
Officers met with the "distressed and cold" owner and found the dog had been missing for more than two hours before emergency services were called. The dog owner was taken to a local hotel to warm up, where officers took her details before returning to station. If you are in difficulty on the coast, call 999 and ask for the coastguard.
