There is lots to do across west Dorset this weekend, with events to suit all tastes.

We've rounded-up some great events happening in Bridport, Beaminster and Lyme Regis so you can make the most of your weekend.

Friday, March 29

  • Spitz & Co present ‘Les Gloriables’ at Broadwindsor Comrades Hall from 7.30pm.

Inspired by Victor Hugo’s classic French novel ‘Les Miserables’, legendary French actress Gloria Delaneuf is determined to create a piece of theatre with the power to unite Europe. Tickets are available from www.artsreach.co.uk

  • The Junkyard Angels will be hitting The Ropemakers from 9.30pm. They are one of the longest running British blues bands and you can expect to be taken on a trip from New Orleans, through to Mississippi up to Chicago and back.
  • Chekov’s Minute Plays, ‘The Bear’ and ‘The Proposal’ will be performed by members of Encore Theatre Club at Loders Village Hall from 7.30pm. Tickets cost £10, which includes a drink, and are available by calling 01308 425037.

Saturday, March 30

  • Bridport and District Gardening Club’s spring show takes place at the United Church Hall from 12noon. Entry is free and there will be light refreshments.
  • The Sladers Jazz Club returns with Alan Barnes, David Newton, Ian Smith and Rhiaan Vosloo to Sladers Yard in West Bay. The musicians will play classics from the history of jazz in superb style, with plenty of banter, anecdotes and laughter. Tickets cost £18 or £36 with dinner from 6.30pm.
  • The School Disco is taking place at Freshwater Beach Holiday Park from 8pm.

It is for over 18s only and guest DJs will be playing your favourite tunes from the 80s, 90s, and 00s. A free bus will be running from Bucky Doo Square to Freshwater on the night.

  • National and local acts will perform at the Lyme Folk Weekend fundraiser at the Marine Theatre. Ninebarrow, Askew Sisters, JI & The Rainbirds and Lee Rahn will be performing at this mini-festival. Doors open at 7pm, with music starting at 8pm, and tickets are available from www.marinetheatre.com.
  • Eight-piece Americana, country and punk outfit, Two Man Travelling Medicine Show will be performing at The Ropemakers from 9.15pm.
  • HOT night is being hosted at the Chapel in the Garden in Bridport from 7.30pm.

There will be a quiz, stand-up comedy, prizes, cocktails by Burnt Bar Company and a full Punjabi meal by Billa’s Kitchen. Tickets cost £17.50 and are available from Bridport Tourist Information Centre.

  • The Beaminster spring clean as part of Keep Britain Tidy’s Great British Spring Clean will start at 10.30am at the Public Hall. Refreshments will be served to volunteers at 11.30am.
  • The Axminster and Lyme Cancer Support Group’s auction of promises will be held at Lyme Regis Golf Club from 7pm.

There will a selection of lots to bid on, including holidays, meals massages, memorabilia and much more. Graham Barton, of Homes Under the Hammer, will be the auctioneer for the evening.

  • A coast path walk from Lyme Regis to Seaton, hosted by Axe Vale and District Conservation Society, will be taking place from Holmbush car park in Lyme from 9.30am.

It is a strenuous seven-mile walk and walkers should wear walking boots and bring a picnic. To book a place and arrange return transport, call 01460 220756.

Sunday, March 31

  • The first Bridport Vintage Market of 2019 will be taking place at the Art and Vintage Quarter at St Michael’s Trading Estate from 10am to 4pm.
  • Two-piece folk unit, Slack Bird, is coming to The Ropemakers, all the way from Finland from 4pm.
  • Grace and Jake will be live at The Volunteer Inn, Lyme Regis, from 3pm. Expect a chilled Sunday session with funk, blues, soul, jazz and more.
