MORE than 10,000 people have visited a small information centre on the beach in just over six months.

The West Bay Discovery Centre welcomed its 11,000th visitor earlier this week after opening in August last year.

Sarah Hashimi, manager at West Bay Discovery Centre, said: “Jo Funnell from Chelmsford in Essex was the lucky visitor, who I presented with a West Bay Discovery Centre bag full of West Bay goodies.

“Jo and her husband Steve are frequent visitors to the area, Jo having visited regularly for the past 50 years, and they are staying with relatives in Burton Bradstock.

“This is one of the lovely things about my job.”

The West Bay Discovery Centre is owned and operated by the Bridport Area Development Trust and provides an insight into West Bay and the Jurassic Coast through hidden history, local stories, interactive experiences, exhibitions, talks and guided walks.
