RESIDENTS are urged to put their fitness to the test and enter Bridport’s very own triathlon at the leisure centre.

Beyond Events will be hosting the inaugural, pool-based triathlon with Bridport Leisure Centre, which is aimed at people with all levels of fitness and ability.

The races will include swimming, cycling and running, with no break except for the transition, and different distances are available for beginners or experts, adults and children, individuals and teams.

Nicole Purdie, of Bridport Leisure Centre, said: “It will be perfect for first timers wanting to take on the challenge of this multi-sport race, or for the seasoned athletes looking to improve sprint ability.

“Triathlon is a great sport to keep active and, by taking on the three different disciplines, it can keep training fun and varied too.

“There are a range of races to suit everyone, including the beginners super-sprint, the individual triathlon, a junior duathlon and a relay triathlon.

“There is also the option to enter as an individual or make it more social and join up as a team.

“If you fancy giving summer a kick-start with this sporty challenge, then all information on various events, what’s on offer and how to enter can be found on Beyond Events website.

“Good luck and see you at the finish line.”

As an incentive to encourage people to enter and to help with the training needed to undertake a triathlon, Bridport Leisure Centre is offering short term membership deals that run alongside the event, giving competitors inclusive use of the pool, gym bikes and running machines to train with.
