A CHOIR which visited Bridport for the first time last year gave such a moving performance it will return next month - and raise vital funds for a host of local charities.

Dorset Police Male Voice Choir will perform at the United Church, where the singers will be joined on stage by talented local musicians.

Organised by the Rotary Club of Bridport, the event will see soloists Kerren McAlister and John Follett perform alongside the choir, directed by Dr Jane Oakland.

Jane has worked as a professional opera singer for more than 35 years, performing in the UK and across Europe. She is now a well-established researcher in psychology and the performing arts.

Kerren started performing at an early age, appearing in Aladdin as a member of the Bridport Pantomime Players when she was just four years old. Since then, she has played leading roles for the Bridport Operatic Society and worked as a dancer and choreographer in various musicals. In 2015, she was chosen to sing in the world premier of Matthew Coleridge's Requiem.

John has toured the UK extensively and has been a member of Bridport Big Band. The two singers are delighted to be joining the police choir on stage.

The choir has performed across the county and much further afield, appearing in other parts of the UK, Ireland, France, Guernsey and America, but it will be the first time they have played in Bridport.

The concert is being held in aid of Rotary charities.

The concert will take place at the United Church, East Street, on Saturday, April 27.

Doors will open at 7pm and the concert will start at 7.30pm. Tickets cost £10.50 each and are available from Bridport Tourist Office and Rotary members.
