LIKE many Bridport residents, I am shocked and dismayed at the news that services currently offered by the excellent Bridport Community Hospital are to be moved to Dorchester and Blandford.
At a time when bus services are being cut, this is an appalling decision. It will affect the most vulnerable in our community, most of whom have little or no access to transport, and who will lose vital services and will be most likely to suffer as a result of this decision.
Rural areas have particular challenges and accessing essential services is one of the most important.
The sign of a civilised society is that we care for our most vulnerable members – we must show this by continuing to provide local, accessible services. I hope that this decision can be reviewed and reversed.
