THE winners of Bridport Camera Club’s nature-themed competition have been announced.
Tim Dowling, Associate of the Royal Photographic Society (ARPS) from Dorchester Camera Club, was the judge this year and firstly viewed the prints and then the projected images.
Rules for the definition of the term nature in competitions still allow a wide range of subjects, so as well as many pictures of flora and fauna, amongst the entries were a single wave, a mountain top and sunlit woodland.
Macro and close-up photography also featured very strongly in the competition this year. this included a stunning shot by Charlie Wheeler of a single midge on a reed, which came first in the group A prints and also won the Colin Varndell Nature Shield for best image depicting native species.
Mr Dowling was able to offer positive feedback and helpful advice on every entry, occasionally highlighting issues with distracting details, focus or framing.
