Live music, tennis trials and Bridport's answer to Dragon's Den with soup - it's all going on across west Dorset this weekend.

Friday​

  • Bridport Youth Dance and Bridport Boys Dance present 'Our Time Is Now' at the Electric Palace this weekend.

The show features choreography by Nikki Northover, Aimee Symes, Luke Robson, Luke Brown and Bec Ayles as well as original music by composers Rob Lee, Matt Benjamin, Jack Harrison Barlow, Georgia Collins and Andrew Dickson.

Tickets are available from www.electricpalace.org.uk and performances take place at 7.30pm on Friday and 2.30pm and 7.30pm on Saturday.

  • Outer Circle present a part show, part caberet and part space exploration performance at the Lyric Theatre.

Outer Circle will give you a fresh taste of alternative Berlin – interweaving outrageous characters and skilful acts, with breathtaking stunts and laugh-out-loud comedy, in an ensemble show that takes audiences by storm.

Prepare to see people flying in on improvised spaceships, spinning by their necks, hand-standing on eggs, hanging from their teeth and inflatable crocodiles.

Tickets cost £12 for adults and £5 for under 18s and are available from Bridport Tourist Information.

  • Grace and Jake will be performing live at Rise in West Bay from 8pm.

Expect funk, blues, soul, jazz and RnB from this Bridport duo of Psychadelephant.

  • Jess Upton, Robbie McIntosh and Steve Wilson will perform at the Chapel in the Garden, East Street, at 8pm.

Tickets cost £10 and the entrance will be at the back of the chapel from Rax Lane.

  • Aiden Simpson will be playing an array of traditional folk music and soulful blues at Beach and Barnicott from 8pm.

Saturday

  • Bridport Vegan Market returns to the town hall from 10am to 2.30pm.

Visitors can expect a range of vegan food, cosmetics, clothing and treats on offer. Entry is free.

  • Bridport Tennis Club is holding an open afternoon from 2pm to 4pm and encouraging residents to have a go at the sport for free at the Plottingham Playing Fields.

All equipment will be provided.

  • 'Making Dorset' an exhibition of designs and fine crafts by 25 Dorset makers starts at Furleigh Estate in Salway Ash today.

The exhibition will be open from 11am to 5pm.

  • Bridport Green Fortnight starts with a whole host of talks, events and actitivites focusing on environment, food and farming.

The first event takes place today from 7.30pm at Bridport Town Hall with a talk by Dan Powell from LandBase, green storytelling by Martin Maudsley and local group presentations. Entry is free.

  • Bournemouth Symphony Orchestra musicians, Barbara Brown on flute, Tom Beer on viola, and Eluned Pierce on harp present an evening of trio music at Litton Cheney Hall from 7.30pm.

  • Amy Mayes Band will be performing classic soul and blues alongside some original numbers at the Marine Theatre in Lyme Regis from 8pm.

Amy sings regularly with blues musician Ben Waters. She recently performed at his Chuck Berry concert at Ronnie Scott's, being joined on stage by Ronnie Wood and Johnny Depp.

Tickets cost £8 in advance from www.marinetheatre.com or £10 on the door. The bar opens at 7pm.

  • Learn how to hula hoop and juggle from the professionals at Outer Circle when they come to the Lyric Theatre.

The circus skills workshop costs £20 and tickets are available from Bridport Tourist Information Centre. Over 16s only.

Sunday

  • Bridport Soup returns to the United Church on East Street from 6pm.

Enjoy a bowl of soup while listening to four local projects discuss their plans and then vote on which one should take home the money.

  • Enjoy a post-roast music session in th ebar at the Marine Theatre, hosted by Street and Matthews with other guests and a selection of local drinks.
