I was thinking about the "scenic route" the train would travel and this is what there is to see. First, the brick sides of B&Q and Kwik Fit. You then cross King Street, holding up the traffic. Along Commercial Road, past a car park. Let’s hope there isn’t an emergency at the Bridges Medical Centre requiring an ambulance parked outside. Past another car park to the junction with Westham Road. Past the brick side of Wilkinsons and then another two car parks. Past the back of the multi storey car park, then another car park and at last, views of the harbour!

However, now the fun begins! Back in the sixties and seventies when the train ran between the station and the ferry terminal, I remember two British Railway staff walking in front of the train in order to keep pedestrians safe and to ensure the track was clear. Many times cars had encroached onto the area needed to ensure safe passage of the train and I can remember the train being held up, sometimes for quite some time, while the car was bumped out of the way. Cars are now much bigger and longer and I cannot see today's drivers taking much notice of the restrictions in their haste to find a parking place.

As these would probably not be British Rail staff operating the trains, would they have the authority to move a car obstructing the line? We all know the police haven’t got the manpower to spare for that!

The disruption to the traffic flow would be horrendous if the train was stopped across a busy junction such as King Street.

I cannot see this project being financially viable. It seems to me a case of some people just wanting a train to play with. There are far better places than Weymouth to do it!
