FAMILIES are being urged to prepare and stay vigilant on the roads ahead of the half term holiday.
Breakdown cover provider Green Flag says there will be an influx of cars on the road over the weekend, which in turn, will contribute to dangerous driving conditions.
The primary issues expected to occur on the roads are battery-related, followed by tyre problems and thirdly, fuel-related complications, so Green Flag are encouraging drivers to pay particular attention to these areas.
In order to stay safe this weekend ahead of half term, Green Flag has issued some tips:
- Walk around the car and look for any signs of potential trouble
- Check tyre pressures, spare included
- Check all fluid levels and top up if necessary
- Make sure you have breakdown cover
- Keep a road map in the car
- Make sure your phone battery is topped up
- Have the number for your emergency breakdown provider handy
- Carry a red warning triangle
- Keep some warm clothes, a rug and some chocolate in the car in case you get stuck
