VISITORS are being urged to focus on a new photographic competition.

The annual exhibition of photographs by Dorchester Camera Club can be seen in the corridors of Dorset County Hospital.

More than 60 images from a wide variety of genres are on show, from landscapes of the world, to wildlife and nature, street photography and portraits.

Many of the prints are on sale with 30 per cent of the sale price being donated to Arts in Hospital.

Alex Murdin, Arts Manager at Arts In Hospital, said: “Arts In Hospital exists to bring arts and culture into the hospital for the benefit of patients, visitors and staff, and to connect the hospital to the wider community it serves.

“The artwork by Dorchester Camera Club is fantastic and definitely makes an impact and brightens up the corridors.”

The pictures can be found in the corridors in North Wing Level 2 leading towards Damers Restaurant. The exhibition will remain at the hospital until Saturday, April 27.

Dorchester Camera Club meets at 7.15pm on Mondays at Brownsword Hall, Poundbury. The programme covers a range of illustrated talks, practical evenings and the opportunity for members to share their work, as well as competitions and the sharing of images with an international flavour.

The club’s standing in the Western Counties Photographic Federation is one of the highest with members achieving success in both national and international competitions. The club is also committed to encouraging beginners and improvers, giving opportunity for everyone to excel in their chosen genre whether wildlife, landscape, street or using editing programs for a more creative approach.
