BRIDPORT Town Hall buzzed with activity on Saturday when the annual community fair returned with a whole host of local charities and organisations.

Hundreds of people visited the hall to find out about services available in the town, upcoming events for 2019 and the help different organisations offer.

The annual event showcased more than 20 organisations, charities and groups, with representatives on hand to explain more about what they do, where their based and activities planned for the coming year.

Groups included Bridport Museum, the Hughes Unit Group Supporters, SW Dorset Lets, Bridport History Society, Bridport Millennium Green, Dorset Wayfinders, Help and Care and Bridport Local Area Partnership to name a few.

Linda Bullock, of Bridport Town Council, said: “It was a bright crisp winter market day and so many people were out and about as usual in the town.

“In the town hall we had a very busy time with 22 organisational stands and many other organisations walking around, all engaging with the public and promoting their projects and events for the year.

“It really was a packed hall at times – a mix of people who have long lived here and those who have recently moved in came to find out more about our vibrant community.

“Sadly, because of the cold weather, the music and dance planned for Bucky Doo Square was unable to go ahead, although the Heritage Coast Canoe Club with their kayak was their promoting the club and its activities.”
