PLANS for a skate park can move forward, thanks to funding of £60k.

A request for funding for Beaminster's skate park has been approved by West Dorset District Council, which met today.

The concrete skate park is to be built at the Memorial Playing Field, and the the district council has already given almost £100,000 in a loan for a new play park.

The new skate area, similar to the one at Dorchester, could be used by skateboarders, BMX riders and scooter users. The total cost of the project has been put at £120,000.

A £60,000 loan has already been agreed by the town council towards the cost. Work is expected to start this year.
