BEAMINSTER’S skate park project may take a step forward in the coming week – with hopes of funding from the district council.
A £60,000 grant to the town council is being recommended to district councillors when they meet on Thursday.
The concrete skate park is to be built at the Memorial Playing Field where the district council has already given almost £100,000 in a loan for a new play park.
The new skate area, similar to the one at Dorchester, could be used by skate boarders, BMX riders and scooter users. The total cost of the project has been put at £120,000.
A £60,000 loan has already been agreed by the town council towards the cost. If the district council agree to give the rest of the money work is expected to start this year.
