Weymouth Carnival could be helped by the borough council in the final weeks before it disappears in April.
Resident Ken Whatley has suggested that the council’s events team be switched to help ensure that the town does hold the event this year.
“Maybe they could help out before Rotary takes over in 2020,” said Mr Whatley, who earlier won applause when he claimed that everyone in the room loved the carnival.
Another member of the public later suggested that the £3,500 collected in the borough’s car park machines when there was free parking over the Christmas period be donated to help the carnival.
