Six houses at Chalky Road, Broadmayne have been approved despite objections of the parish council and residents living nearby.
The scheme will involve the demolition of an existing property, Number 6.
West Dorset planning committee approved the Northshore Homes application on Thursday after officers told members that, in planning terms, there was no reason to refuse.
Letters of objection included claims that the scheme, for three and found-bed detached homes, would be an over-development and add to parking problems in the area.
One said the property proposed for demolition fits in with others in the area, while the proposed new buildings are in a different style.
Planning officers raised no concerns about the layout or design of the buildings: “The proposed development is considered to be in a sustainable location, and acceptable as regards design, with no adverse harm to neighbours’ amenity and there are no highway objections,” concluded their report.
