Parish councillors at Broadmayne are objecting to a plan to demolish a home in Chalky Road and then build six large homes on the site.

They say the scheme would be an over-development and add to parking problems in the area.

Several residents have also written to the council to make similar claims adding that there could be problems because of what they see as insufficient turning space.

One letter says that the property proposed for demolition, Number 6, is a good home which fits in with others in the area, while the proposed new buildings are in a different style.

District council planning committee members will be recommended to approve the application, from Northshore Homes, when they meet in Dorchester this Thursday (Jan 17).

A report says there have been no objections from statutory consultees and, as the site lies within the village development area, there should be 'in principle' support. Officers also raise no concerns about the layout or design of the buildings and say that, since the original application, an amended site layout plan has been received to address comments made.

“The proposed development is considered to be in a sustainable location, and acceptable as regards design, with no adverse harm to neighbours’ amenity and there are no highway objections,” concluded the officers report.
