Parish and town councils should know by next month what assets they might be able to take on from West Dorset District Council.

There was disappointment in September when the shadow Dorset Council executive ruled out the transfer of many of the district's public toilets.

But West Dorset District Council leader Tony Alford says work is continuing to try and let town and parish council take on some district-owned assets which are not required by the new Dorset Council.

In response to a question from Bridport councillor David Rickard, he told a meeting of the district in Dorchester on Thursday that officers were continuing to work on possible transfers – although he declined to say what was involved.

He said that a report is expected to come before the council on Tuesday, February 26.
