BRIDPORT: Paul Atterbury will be talking on ‘The Golden Age of Travel’ when he joins the Golden Cap Association west Dorset on Monday, January 28.

Paul will discuss the 1920s and 1930s as the golden age of travel with Cunard, the Orient Express and Pullman trains.

Mr Atterbury famously presented a television programme on the BBC whilst travelling on board a train headed by the iconic steam locomotive, The Flying Scotsman.

Despite never having an ambition to appear on television, Mr Atterbury in his trademark striped blazers has been on the Antiques Roadshow for more than 25 years.

Now based in Weymouth, he used to live in Eype and has published books of old postcards showing Eype and West Bay. His books on travel include ‘Country Railways’, ‘Branch Line Britain’ and ‘Exploring Britain’s Canals’.

The event takes place at 2.30pm at Bridport United Church Hall.

Non-members are welcome and admission costs £3 to include tea or coffee and biscuits.
