DORSET is all of a shiver as it starts the new year.
Temperatures dropped yesterday and it set to get even colder over the next few days.
According to the Met Office, temperatures are set to drop
below 0 degrees Celsius overnight tonight.
A Met Office spokesman said the UK is in a period of high pressure, which can lead to colder conditions.
He added: “There has been some media speculation about a second Beast from the East, and although that’s influenced by high pressure 2018 was a different set up with colder winds coming from as far as Siberia last year. At the moment we are not necessarily seeing the same set up and certainly nothing has been forecast.
“All I can say at the moment is that there’s likely to be some colder conditions by night where temperatures could drop reasonably low.”
“In parts of Dorset temperatures have reached as low as minus one. That would be sufficient to cause frost, that’s reasonably cold, but not untoward for this time of the year. “
