The pews of Holy Trinity Church in Weymouth were full this Christmas with a number of well attended services being held.

A service of nine lessons and carols marked the beginning of the Christmas season at the church on Sunday, December 16.

A spokesman for the Church said more than 200 people gathered for the service.

He added: “Holy Trinity church choir led the singing of traditional carols and chosen readers traced the story of the birth of Christ from Genesis to the Gospel of St John announcing the Word had become flesh in Jesus Christ.

“Thanks are extended to the choir, Deans academy and Julie our soloist as well as Gary at the organ and our new musical Director Alistair Dean.

“Afterwards everyone enjoyed Christmas cake and mulled wine served in the organ transept. A splendid evening was enjoyed by everyone.”

The church was then pleased to welcome Holy Trinity Primary School for its annual carol service, which took place on Wednesday, December 19.

A church spokesman added: “The church was full of children from both KS1 and KS2 and all the parents and carers for this special occasion.

“The service was opened and closed by Headteacher Fiona Dakin.

“They were accompanied by our Musical Director Alistair Dean.

“The children’s choir sang their hearts out finishing with their regular favourite Angels.

“The Vicar gave an address to the children regarding being a messenger and how they can all spread the good news of Jesus and the true meaning of Christmas.

“We always like to receive the children from our local church school and look forward to seeing them again soon. On behalf of the Clergy and Church Wardens, we would like to wish all the staff and pupils a very Merry Christmas.”
