Three new dwellings could be built on land to the rear of an existing property to provide accommodation for people with learning difficulties.
East Boro Housing Trust has applied to Weymouth and Portland Borough Council to build the self-contained flats at the back of 11 Cranford Avenue, Weymouth, which already houses a number of residents, along with staff who provide 24-hour support.
A design and access statement submitted as part of the proposal states that the building is close to Weymouth College, as well as having good transport links and being close to local shops and leisure facilities.
The statement adds: “The existing site is in excess of 0.1 hectares and can easily accommodate the proposed development. Furthermore the proposed scheme backs onto the existing Weymouth College Sports Hall and will therefore have no impact on neighbouring residential properties.”
The application will be discussed by the WPBC planning committee at a date to be confirmed.
