Residents at a care home had some special visitors - just in time for Christmas.

Gracewell of Weymouth invited in Santa with his grotto and two reindeers.

The home also invited the public, handing out flyers on the morning of the event to mums, dads and children of Holly Trinity school, which is next door to Gracewell.

Children and Residents got to see Santa and his grotto where many of them had their photos taken and everyone was given gift from Santa.

Gracewell put on festive treats for all to enjoy, mince pies, mulled wine and Christmas cupcakes the public also had the use of the Gracewell bistro with luxury coffee and hot chocolate.

Homes admissions advisor Esther Sheppard arranged the event for the public and residents to enjoy. They also raised funds for Cancer Research.

The event was so well attended that there was a queue of children to see Santa and his reindeer going out of the Gracewell Garden.

One parent said: “This is so fantastic. It can be so hard this time of year to try and get to see Santa with the children with everywhere being so busy and expensive. Having this event for charity and it being a donation is a brilliant idea. My children have loved it! And what a nice after school treat for them. They also enjoyed meeting the residents.”

Resident of the home, Dusty said: “I have never seen Reindeer before, what a home I have."

Esther would like to thank everyone that attended, particularly Somerset Reindeer Ranch.

She said: "They were amazing, it made the event magical for everyone. We look forward to having this next year as it was so successful."
