HAVE a Christmas to remember this year and take a swim in the sea for charity.

Dress up in fancy dress and take part in the Charmouth Christmas Day Swim or the West Bay Wallow on Boxing Day.

Brave swimmers gather on Charmouth Beach for the swim at 11am, organised by the Lyme Regis and Charmouth RNLI Guild.

The event is weather permitting, but regularly raises around £2,000 for the organising charity.

Charmouth’s Royal Oak pub is again supporting the swim, and landlords Mathew and Sue Bracey will be providing mulled wine for those who take part.

Members of the volunteer crew of the Lyme Regis RNLI lifeboat will be keeping a watchful eye out during the event which will be subject to a risk assessment of conditions during the morning.

Bridport Round Table's West Bay Wallow takes place at 12noon prompt, but participants are encouraged to start arriving to register from 10.45am to be in with a chance of winning a prize for the best fancy dress, which is judged at 11.45am.

Revellers make their way into the harbour from the slipway, watced-on by thousands of people.

Those braving the icy waters are encouraged to raise money for a charity of their choice, but there will also be a collection for local good causes, distributed by round table members.
