Fitness enthusiasts at a South Dorset gym exercised their imaginations and have bared all to produce a unique fundraising calendar for a cancer charity.

Members and staff of the New Body Fitness Centre on Weymouth's Granby Industrial Estate stripped off to help raise awareness of prostate cancer in men and breast cancer in women.

More than 35 men and women of all ages posed "artistically naked" or in their underwear for more than 75 photos which are featured in the limited edition 2019 calendar.

Nick Bell, founder and director of the fitness centre, said: “The importance of raising awareness for this cause is huge and very personal for us as a club.

“Unfortunately, we have had a number of members of our club affected with prostate and breast cancer and it's devastating. We have a close relationship with our members and they become friends to me and all the team.

“Even closer to home, our club manager Leah, has suffered twice with breast cancer as well as also fighting off cervical cancer, all before the age of 34. Leah is incredibly strong and continues to fight.

“The response from members to take part in the project was overwhelming as many New Body Fitness regulars have personal experience or know of someone affected by cancer.

“To help combat the disease, both breast and prostate cancer charities recommend patients adopt a good, healthy lifestyle which includes around two and a half hours of moderate exercise per week which we aim to help with.

“Our calendar may become an annual production if it is successful and we appreciate all the support and help from everyone to make this project come together.”

The photos were taken by Abbie Williams who runs AW Sports Therapy at the club. The fitness centre also worked with James and Grace at Print Shop Express who helped put the calendars together and made a generous donation to the project.

The Bare All To Beat Cancer calendars cost £8 and all proceeds from sales of the calendar will be donated to the Fortuneswell Unit at Dorset County Hospital in Dorchester.

This important facility will act as a satellite clinic of the Dorset Cancer Centre to significantly reduce journey times that patients in the north, south and west areas of the county currently face in travelling to Poole for radiotherapy treatment.

The Bare All To Beat Cancer calendars can be bought direct from New Body Fitness at 24, Cambridge Road, Weymouth (or by post for £3.50 p&p).
